Murugan temple - palani

The temple is located on a small hillock called Sivagiri in Palani, about 30 km from Kodaikanal in the state of Tamil Nadu. There is a path with 659 stairs to climb up. There is also a roadway that looks like a stairway. Slightly beyond the stairway is a ropeway that takes you up the hill in a small box-like box about 100 yards away. It is also known as Murugan Hill. There is a nice roadway around Giri. Usually, the devotees go around the giri first and then climb the hill. Swami Dandayudhapani and Swami like Kadamba flowers here and are cultivating a special garden here. This Swami's Kavadi festival is celebrated with great pomp. The Lord is anointed with honey, milk, banana pulp, and a liquid mixed with sugar. Palani means the fruit of knowledge. That is why Swami Murugan himself called the place by which he possessed the same name so that it could be understood as a fruit of knowledge. Here Karthikeyan is just with Pancha

Appears to devotees. Once Lord Brahma came to Kailasa to see Lord Parameswara and gave a fruit brought to him to Lord Shiva saying that it was a fruit full of Brahma knowledge and he did not mean to give that fruit to any of the two sons who were there at that time, but immediately went around this whole universe and gave that fruit to Kumara. , Climbed into his peacock vehicle, and set off into cosmic orbit. Ganesha, who could not travel fast, orbited his father and said that since the whole universe was an image of God, he had come around the universe. Appreciating his words, he gave the fruit to Vinayaka and he ate it. Kumaraswamy, who had just completed his cosmic circumambulation for a while, sat in a corner with anger knowing what had happened. Throughout Parameswara appeased the Son, the entire theology is contained within you. So why another fruit that will give you wisdom, said Sardi. It is said that with the son of Parameswara, the fruit of theology is the evidence that you are the fruit, and that the fruit is Palani over time and then Palani.

The idol in this temple is said to be centuries old and reflects the architectural style of the Pandya emperors. At that time, a saint named Bhogar created this statue with 9 types of medicinal plants and minerals. But doing six anointings every day is a bit of a chore. A bronze statue similar to it has been made to prevent further damage, and the statue has been anointed for the past 60 years. Especially on the golden dome at the top of the sanctum sanctorum, the sculptural masterpieces are found. Palani is also famous for the preparation of Vibhudi and Panchamritam. This is because the traditional ready-made panchamrit is made from five types of fruits here like nowhere else. Both are given to the devotees who come to the temple. After passing through the gate of the royal dome, the Varamel mandapam is visible. Next to this mandapam is the Navranga mandapam. The statues of the gate rulers at the gate are attractively carved. In this temple, Kumaraswamy appears to us in the form of a little boy sitting on a lotus pedestal on a peacock throne. Therefore this Swami is called Balasubramanian. Kumara Swamy is also known as Dandayudhapani. This Swami has a 20 feet high chariot made entirely of gold foil. Devotees traditionally anoint this Swami with milk. Devotees visit this Swami in the month of May on the occasion of Agni Nakshatra. Hundreds of anointings are performed daily for the anointed lover, Swami. During the night, sandalwood coated with Moola Virat is offered to the devotees. Devotees accept it as a great blessing. Swami worships them six times daily. Special pujas are held for six days before Skanda Sashti next year. The Swami is also worshiped by the Muslims here. It is said to be a feature. It is believed that all the deities like Lakshmi, Sun, Pridvi, Agni, etc. worshiped this Swami.
