Govardhana mountain
Govardhana is a temple located at a distance of 30 km from Mathura in the state of Uttar Pradesh. This is called diamond land. The shrine is famous as the abode of Lord Brahma and Lord Kali. Situated on the banks of the River Yamuna, this shrine is famous as the place where Lord Krishna glorified the Govardhana mountain with his little finger. For generations, Gopagopis worshiped Indra in the land of diamonds. But Lord Krishna left Indra in the same manner and worshiped the Govardhana mountain which was protecting them and their cows. There is a lake here called Manasa Ganga. It is known that bathing in this lake does not result in cow slaughter. Devotees will circumnavigate this 14-mile Govardhana hill. Devotees bathe in the Brahmakundam, which is said to have been built by Lord Krishna himself, and visit the Govardhana Temple. The temple houses the Govardhana peak. Behind it, Govardhanadhu appears to the devotees in a sculptural form. The peacock on the sculpture looks amazing when you take a look. Great festivals are celebrated here during the months of Ashada Purnima, Diwali, Shravan, and Bhadrapada Karthika.
