Tyageswaraswamy Temple

Tyageswaraswamy Temple is located in the town of Thiruvarur, 51 km from Thanjavur in the state of Tamil Nadu. This is a very ancient and famous Shaiva shrine. Tyageshwara Swamy Temple is one of the oldest temples in the area. Amma's name is Kamalamba Devi. Valmiki is known as Nadar due to his being born inside the temple. Some other devotees are also known as Achaleshwara Swami. It is one of the 108 Shakti Peethas. Known as the Sangeetha Ratna Trio in the history of Carnatic music, Tyagyya, Shyamashastri and Muthuswamy Dixit were the three lyricists who gave the name to Thyagaraja, a native of Thiruvarur, out of devotion to Tyageshwaraswamy in the village. Tyagyya Gary's wife's name is Kamala. The name of the goddess in this village is Kamalamba. Anadu used to name their children Swami Varla. The temple is spread over an area of 30 acres and has a four-story, 98 feet high Rajagopuram. The architecture of the temple is remarkably beautiful. Going inwards beyond the temple courtyard, there is a large stone chariot with monoliths. Not far from where the chariot was, there was a house where Syamashastri lived. There is a large pool on the outside of the north gate of the temple courtyard. It is called the Kamalamba Pushkarini. In the center of the Pushkarini is the temple of Goddess Parvati, also known as Kamalamba Devi. There is a small boat to go to the temple in Pushkarini. Goddess Parvati, who was once subject to the wrath of God for some reason, drowned in this Pushkarini and committed suicide.
As she did so, she bowed to her husband with both hands and plunged vertically into the pool. The two hands appear to the devotees in the temple as if they are bowing upwards. The chariot in which the Swami of this field drives them is very large. The trip took two days. This Swami is unique in that the Navagrahas are arranged in a single row in front of their idol and are seen by all the Swamis. Their idol of Tyageshwaraswamy, adorned with precious divine ornaments, is enshrined in this temple. The temple is popularly known as the Emerald Shivalingam. This Shiva lingam is made of a single emerald. The temple also has oil paintings. The oil painting of Sri Mahavishnu is here on the Shayana Mudra. We can also see a picture of Tyageshwaraswamy dancing on top of him. After the chariot festival in Thiruvarur, the Theppotsavam is held at Kamalalayam Koneru.
