Vinayaka Temple - Kanipakam
Measured in Kanipakam, Varasiddhi Vinayaka Swami has a
history of thousands of years. Kanipakam is a village located in the Irala Zone
of Chittoor District in Andhra Pradesh. The shrine is located on the north bank
of the Bahuda River on the Tirupati-Bangalore National Highway, 12 km from
Chittoor. There are many ancient temples in Kanipakam. It was once known as
Viharpuri. Many devotees tell stories about the glories of Lord Ganesha here.
Visible people usually do not resort to legal positions and do not complain to
the police. Kanipakam is sworn in by Ganesha by the person suspected to be
guilty. Devotees believe that if the oath is true he is innocent and if he
swears falsely, Ganesha himself will immediately serve him. It is believed that
it was later expanded by the Vijayanagara kings in the 15th century. History
has it that at one time three siblings suffered from three types of dementia,
one blind and the other deaf. They spend time cultivating on the small farm
they have. So that the water in the well on their farm was completely soaked.
So they went down into the pit and began digging deeper. After a while the
shovel stopped touching the stone-like substance and looked carefully below.
The shovel hit a black rock and spilled blood on the three brothers. Soon all
three were paralyzed. Hearing this, the surrounding villagers reached Nuthi in
droves and tried to dig deeper, but to no avail. The statue was still bleeding
from the spot where the sledgehammer struck from above. Then they all prayed to
the Lord and said that they would build a temple here and the bleeding stopped.
The people who saw this glory realized that he was self-sufficient and anointed
him with a lot of coconut water. This coconut water flows into small canals a
quarter of an acre away. It was also known as Kani Parakam in Tamil. Kani means
a quarter of an acre of land or magani, and parakam means water flowing into
the field. Ranu settled as it appeared. Later, the temple was built to
honor the Swami as a mantra. Within the precincts of the temple, as a source
for the sanctum sanctorum, there is a well which was dug by Swami. To this day,
their idol of Swami is still in Nuthi. There is also a future in the courtyard
itself. In it, Swami had their vehicle rat. For the Swami there, the feeling of
the devotees is that the desired wish will be fulfilled if we leave out any of
our favorite substances. Swami has been growing omnipresent since their time
till now. There are many examples of that. Bejwada Siddaiah Naidu and Lakshmamma,
a couple from Aragonda Gollapalli, 50 years ago, say that the silver armor that
Swami made for them is not enough now. Swami Bojja which was not visible when
they originated is now clearly visible. Devotees treat this Swami as Varasiddhi
Vinayak. Their idol of Swami is slightly submerged in water.
No matter how much Swami dug, they could not find their final
destination. Swami performs special pujas for them during the festivals along
with the regular Ashtottara pujas. The festivities for Vinayaka Chavati are
richly organized. The idol of Swami in this temple is not like the idol of
Ganesha that we usually see. With a bald spot on the navel, it feels like
standing short and having a strange feeling at first sight. There is an
important reason why this temple is so famous. Liars are not prepared to swear
before Kanipakam Vigneshwar, the true god. Those who take the oaths made here
are also the standard in the courts of the British period. If someone does
something wrong, if there is any dispute between two people, they will swear
before this Swami. Devotees believe that those who lie will be punished for a
few days so that no one can lie but break the oath before the Lord. Due to
this, the power, greatness, and oaths of this Swami were well-publicized. Therefore
the number of devotees visiting this temple is increasing significantly day by
day. Kanipakam is home to Shiva Vaishnava temples. Along with Sri Varasiddhi
Vinayaka Swamy, there are temples of Sri Manikanteshwara Swamy, Sri Varadaraja
Swamy, Sri Veeranjaneya Swamy, and Navagraha temples. Kanipaka Kshetra is also
known as Shiva Vaishnava Kshetra as Lord Shiva and Lord Vishnu are in the same
shrine and it is on the same premises. The temple is open from 6 am to 12 noon.
The return will open at 4 p.m. But, there will be no darshan from 5.30pm to
6.30pm. During this time there will be a program to do truth swearing. For 21
days from the festival of Vinayaka Chaviti, Swami conducts Brahmotsavam for
them at this temple. During these Brahmotsavas, Swami gives darshan to the
devotees in various forms every day. These days the Swami parades on swan
vehicle, peacock vehicle, rat vehicle, remnant vehicle, bull vehicle, yard
vehicle. The chariot festival also takes place.
